We would like to explain the most popular of them.
In the Museum you will see the first serial soviet helicopter MI-1. Its first specimen was produced in 1947. From 1958 till 1968 27 world records of maximum length of flight and maximum speed were set on it. The Mi-1s were actively used in the national economy and in the armed forces of the USSR and other countries, where the helicopter was exported.
Mi-8 the most popular two-engine helicopter in the World. This model was widely used in the Afghanistan war. Very often exactly this helicopter model was the only one means to ensure and support the troops. The crews of these vehicles bore on their shoulders all the hardships and privations of the first to the last day of the war.
Mi-26 the largest helicopter in the world. One of them the Mi-26 – Soviet multi-functional transport helicopter, the largest serial transport helicopter in the world. Its first flight was made on 14 December 1977. Mi-26 was designed to carry up to 25 tons of goods and equipment, to transport up to 82 soldiers or 68 paratroopers with full equipment, up to 60 wounded on stretchers with 3 accompanying persons.
MiG-15 is the first experimental specimen of this fighter aircraft which rose into the sky in December 1947. More than 15000 aircrafts were produced and many of them entered into service in more than 40 countries. MiG-15 was one of the main Fighter aircrafts which took part in the Korean War.
In the Museum one can find such a popular aircraft model like MiG-21, which is one of the most outstanding soviet fighter aircraft of 1970-60s. It is the first jet fighter in the USSR of the second generation, which supposes the using of the rockets as a main armament and speed around M=2, i.e. the speed 2 times higher than the sound one. It was being produced 28 years (since 1959 till 1986 year). It was in service in more than 60 countries of the world. In Belarus it was withdrawn from service in 1990s.
We would like to mention that there are also the debris of two planes of the Great Patriotic War period: attack plane IL-2 and diving bomber Pe-2. On the place of their crush the remains of two pilots were found. It was also possible to find some their personal things. The works to identify the personalities are being done now.
The museum continues to grow constantly adding new aircraft and helicopters to its collection.
In the Museum visitors can enter the cabins of some aircrafts and helicopters, can feel themselves as a real pilot or attacker. Some units are open for everybody some are opened only for the most honorable guests.
